So apparently there was a bug that was causing ret paladins to do insane amounts of damage. Blizz patched it but there will probably be some stripping of achievs for guilds that abused this and maybe some bans. The world of logs ranking page is pretty funny right now. Click on the LFR tab and pretty much all rankings are now ret paladins.

Here's a log of a morchok kill with a ret paladin in the group.

To tell you the truth, the 5% nerf was alot more then people expected. I foresee us killing a bunch of shit in the future now, I mean I took a stomp on Morchok without any type of cooldown and didn't even die.

Has blizzard announced any timeline on when these nerfs are going out? I know they said that they will keep nerfing for a while but I don't know if they said how far it will go or how soon it would happen. Agreed that the 5% made a pretty noticeable difference; bosses just seemed to melt.

For those that do it's an approximate 5% change, which is pretty minor, and we expect it to be about a month before we raise it another 5%.

If they go 4 weeks for each round, 35% would kick in on July 17th. I doubt they'd keep nerfing while people are playing MoP, so they're either going to speed it up towards the end or MoP isn't coming out until August. People who signed up for the year are locked in until Oct~Nov, so they definitely have to release before then or people will be screaming bloody murder. No wonder they canceled Blizzcon.

Next Thursday is the quarterly conference call, first one since they started offering the yearly package. Would be interesting to see if it stemmed the bleeding in subs.

With the amount of beta invites that went out for diablo 3 recently I would say it's probably getting closer to a release. My bet is they go gold in March. That leaves the MoP beta for the spring/summer and a early fall release of the next expansion. I don't know though because it seems pretty unlikely that they would go for like 8 months without any new content. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

T10 - 12/8/09
Ruby Sanctum - 6/22/10
T11 - 12/7/10
T12 - 6/28/11

Not that far off really. And don't forget they're trying to finish SC2 as well.

Well, yeah, but there's a pretty big difference between 6 months and 8 months, particularly when you're comparing ICC against DS in terms of content. 8 bosses vs 13 is a pretty big difference, especially with all the gating they did on ICC to slow progression even further. My guess is that they knew the timeframe of when Cata was due to come out well in advance, and the size of ICC, the gating, and the difficulty of heroic 25-man Arthas all give the impression that they intended ICC to keep us occupied for a long, long time. Which it did. They've announced there won't be a Ruby Sanctum kinda deal as a placeholder this time and while DS was an interesting raid overall, it certainly does not give the impression of being intended to keep us occupied for ages and ages. They know the clock is ticking.

If the MoP beta starts later than about April (which, according to MMO is probably about right. They suggest the friends and family alpha is probably starting about now, and 2 months from that to the start of closed beta seems quick it doesn't seem unreasonably so, especially given that they've said they want to push a quicker timeframe). An April beta would suggest a July launch, which is a little slow but not horribly. Technically that means 7-8 months between content releases, but the last month of two before Mists hardly counts as tons of people will be in the beta by then, 5.0 will come out with tons of rule changes, and there will be enough excitement that it won't be a problem. And I think they know that. The 12 month deal, imo, was clever because it kills two birds. The two big times for losing subscriptions will be the next couple months (Feb and March) when DS is feeling very old, but nothing is really new on the WoW horizon yet, and the doldrums of October or so, ~3 months after MoP has come out, people have leveled and geared a character or two and the new raids are feeling old. Covers them both pretty decently.

If it's a July release, I think May will be the dangerous month for us. Spending the next couple of months getting to 6/8-ish while wrapping up the other achievements shouldn't be a problem. And if people are just bored as hell in June taking a month off isn't a big deal. Just have to make sure we have at least 10-12 useable people through that time frame.

10% nerf next week, yay! So we should be able to kill at least 1 out of the next 3 (Yor/Zon/Ultraxion) next week. We'll probably start on Yor Tuesday, and if we can kill him that night we'll put some attempts into Zon Wed. Depending on how Zon goes we might either continue on that or go for an Ultraxion kill.
