Interesting blue post today about a press event for MoP March 13-15. Still seems kind of unlikely but I'm thinking a MoP beta could be early March. I'm wondering how this would all line up with the Diablo 3 launch. D3 seems like it should be right around the corner but news has been pretty quiet on it recently so maybe it is being pushed back further and MoP is getting bumped up to earlier in the year. It's also entirely possible that blizz doesn't give a shit about releasing both at the same time.

D3 with be a Q4 launch IMO, just in time for Christmas.

D2 had a patch on the ptr for... 16 months? In april or so of 2009 they said it was close. Finally came out in summer 2010. Was the nail in the coffin for the D2 community because they promised stuff like respecs and balance changes so people stopped running stuff.

Hmmmmm interesting development in diablo 3. It seems a very large wave of beta invites just went out. I know a couple people in the guild got one and a lot of my other nerd friends received theirs tonight as well. A good sign the game is mostly done and release is soon imo.

Hmm, I'd just be agog at their stupidity at doing both MoP and D3 at the same time unless they've gotten SO many people to take the 12 month deal that they think the D3 sales have been massively cannibalized already. Not sure at what point it wouldn't be an issue anymore, 50%? Higher? But its possible they think they're already there.

Also, my internet connection is, magically, back (and naturally late enough that we can't cancel the cable appointment).

My current thought is D3 release is more imminent than people think. I'm banking on d3 hitting before mop beta. Then mop beta and d3 happening concurrently and finally mop release when the d3 hype beast machine dies down a little.

Disappointed that they're only adding one character slot per server, was hoping they'd do 50 per realm and account (instead of 50 per account as it it now). At least I can still level a monk on my main account. Guess I'm never leveling the ally toons.

AoE looting is sweet, long overdue.

Seems like they're going to have a decent amount of raid content (like T11) to start which is good. We'll see if they keep it up throughout the tiers.

They've pretty openly said that the 1-60 revamp for Cata took time that they would have put into making more level 85 content so they're going to make up for it now. We'll see if they do.

Yeah, with all the bitching and moaning they actually did do a good job revamping the zones. You actually have a reason to go to places like Azshara or Desolace, and some quest chains like the forsaken stuff in silverpine are well done. Though funny enough the BC zones feel a little dated now. People don't spend enough time leveling through BC content for it to matter, but there is a noticeable gap between the BC and Cata zones. Wotlk doesn't feel too bad since it's still only a couple of years old.

Ya I'm listening to the hour long press tour thing, and I must say I'm getting somewhat high hopes with how they are explaining it. Some really neat ideas, like the farm that you can plant shit in, and I kinda hope it all ends up in the game.

So far it sounds like they are really trying to get their player base back to full force. Sounds like there is a FUCK TON of stuff they are putting into this expansion. And I'm kind of surprised they are killing off Garrosh already, I expected Thralls kid to overthrow him.

Well, remember, Garrosh is dying at the END of MoP. Two expansions is a pretty good run as Warchief. Thrall only lasted 2 (plus Vanilla and however long before that).

Edit - Being overthrown, I should say. Seems unlikely they'll kill him. He'll probably reappear as a bad guy at some point.

Question now is who will they make Warchief. Thrall isn't going to come back now that he's a shaman of the elements or w/e they hell they made him, so who's going to take the throne once it's all said and done.

It will be useless outside of leveling though :/
