“[Deathwing is] either going to be in patch 4.2 or 4.3. It definitely won’t be in 4.1," Chilton said on this week's edition of G4's Feedback.

^from dec. 2010, so that may or may not be accurate.

The next patch will include "major raid and dungeon content", we can most likely expect a raid and a 5-man from Patch 4.3
- Patch 4.3 will be the "largest content update since Cataclysm"
- It will be released later this year, which means that we can probably expect a PTR soon.

^from mmochamp (today)?

3-4months tops I would think.

Anyone else found some quips that may add to my speculation?

im betting on us seeing death wing in 4.3

yeah, this all kinda fits with a late q2 release of the next expansion.

Now with 4.3, you think it will be a repeat of ICC's slow content release to play out the timeline till next year? The releasing of quarters in ICC made the raid content felt dragged out and tired by the time the King was finally released. I have a gut feeling the same thing might occur again.

I sure hope not. If they really do plan a new expansion for summer of 2012 there won't really be time to drag it out anyway.

If we're only getting one more tier for the next 8-10 months then Cata might end up being my last WoW expansion as a raider. Even with the DL stint I'm not as jacked up about Firelands as I would've expected, and I can definitely see my interest waning if all I have to kill is Rag + ~8 bosses until Deathwing. Could just be restlessness from not being able to do much this summer and living in Manhattan again. WoW still offers a better overall experience than any MMO currently available (SWOTR?), but the novelty factor is long gone. I'll still buy the next expansion just to tool around, but don't see myself investing full-time unless something really piques my interest. There will be plenty of advance notice though, I'd want to make sure the guild is still running as long as people are interested.

I see your SWOTR an d raise you:

wow is my last MMO, ill fill my time with other games before I play some kind of dumb lazer beams game.

I think our next expansion will be planned for march, delayed until September. Probably have 1 big raid and some bullshit throwback raid + heroics to look forward to until then.

Well it's weird, for the most part I play games for the story - don't care about multiplayer, socializing, etc. WoW's the only game that I've extensively played that fails at storytelling (maybe more so in the execution than actual content, I did like the single player RTS versions) and it's probably because of all the little social engineering tricks they crammed in there (Achievements!). And there's really no reason to switch to another MMO since they're around the same level story wise (aka nonexistent in day-to-day play) and don't do the little things as well. I can always become a functioning alcoholic again.

why bother with the functioning part? if you do something, do it well.

Economy's too shitty to become a total lush, I might never dig myself out. You picked a fun time to go on vacation.

Lava ended up being the second tank, had Gunther heal. Wasn't a bad night considering we didn't start until 8:50 or so. Shannox and Rhyo were a breeze, took a few tries to get the DPS split right on Beth. Pretty sure we could have gotten Baleroc too but Decocks kept dc'ing so we called it early.

Might run into the same issue tomorrow since Kaai will be out still, not sure if we can do Aly since Interruption won't be on (maybe trial that rogue, shrug) so it'll be a game-time decision.

eakimg of economy, reading dry but informative book, This time its different, about financial crises.

in nutshell, not a biz cycle downturn caused by lack of credit or tight monetary policy. its a fiscal/debt crisis so keynsian stimulation pushing credit availabilty will do jack because the prob is too much debt, not too little. debt forgiveness is only thing thatll help and its brutally hard to do.

tl;dr - historically these kinds of econ slowdowns take 7ish years to work through. unemployment is typically 5% higher during the decade after than the decade before, though debt accumulation during the preceeding decade had goosed things past average.

Yea, that's starting to piss me off. I didn't DC at all on Monday and last night ended up dc'ing around 10:30; same time as Sunday. Cable TV went out last night too; I'm guessing Comcast is having issues in my area. I might call them this week, but I doubt I will get more than "we're looking into it." Might do some research on ISP's and see what my other options are.

This sounds about right. I will definitely be here for the rest of this expansion, but will most likely either pvp or just fuck around next expansion. Interest is slowly waning.

Just opened my ticket about getting my benediction back. fuck blizzard for adding this to the game, benediction is one of the few items that almost no one will have. my chances at being a special snowflake will be gone if they can't restore it to me.

Looks like Ryo, Baleroc and Beth all got varying degrees of nerfs which may have helped (Baleroc should be a lot more doable with his auto-Inferno Blade first thing).

It also looks like 4.3 will be Deathwing, which presumably means its the last raid tier. I kinda want to know why the hell they bothered including Vash'jir if they basically never did anything with it. We got one 5-man in which we established that Neptulon is 1) a "good guy", and 2) so wimpy that he needs help fending off non-elite murlocs. No follow-up with Azshara or the Old God that presumably was the responsible for both her and Deathwing's corruption/insanity? I'm satisfied, albeit just barely, with the amount of content, but I'm left a bit cold from a lore/plot development standpoint.

Also, per Guinthel's comments, I see many, MANY incoming runs of old content for specific gear pieces.

Edit - Sobie, I kinda like the one with the 4 glowy eyes.

I really wish I didn't vendor/delete my wotlk tier sets. I'm wondering if this applies to weapons as well as armor; I'm pretty sure I held on to http://www.wowhead.com/item=40336 because it's my favorite weapon. Time to start running for T1 gear. As a bonus side effect, now might be a good time to finish working on thunderfury. People running old raids for tier gear means more vanilla/bc raiding mats on the auction house.

as Chilton states, the setting and the story were not convincing enough.

Translation: We took too long with Firelands, rolled out ZA to curb the QQ, and still ran out of time.

Timeline:

T12 - 6/28/11, 7 bosses
T11 - 12/7/10, 13 bosses
Ruby Sanctum - 6/29/10, 1 boss
T10 - 12/8/09, 12 bosses
T9 - 8/4/09, 5 bosses
T8 - 4/14/09, 14 bosses
T7 - 11/13/08, 17 bosses
Sunwell - 3/25/08, 6 bosses
T6 - 5/22/07, 14 bosses (technically hyjal was available earlier, but not with the long attunement)
T4/T5 - 1/9/07, 25 (!) bosses

So that's 45 bosses in BC, 49 bosses in wotlk, and 20 so far in Cata with one tier to go?

Also went from 4-5 months between tiers (I'll cut them some slack toward the end of expansions, I doubt RS would have taken +6 months if they weren't working on Cata) to +7 months (especially if they're releasing Deathwing in Nov/Dec).

Similarly, they won’t allow you to change weapon or armor types. Sneaky death knights can’t make that breastplate look like a cloth robe, and you can’t make a one-handed axe look like a two-handed axe, or transform a sword’s appearance into that of a mace. Guns, bows, and crossbows will be the exception to this rule.
