Thanks for that post Ill adjust my ui and set up some keybinds. Im all for maximizing throughput with my class and adjusting playstyle accoridingly.
When you're getting used to bindings you should start with the main rotation spells first. If you bind +30 spells and try to learn them all you'll drive yourself nuts. PvP is a good place to practice too, lets you use some buttons that are only situationally useful in PvE.
Couple of vids that might help you get started as well (somewhat dated, general concepts are still good):

This is a little off-topic, but Sobie what macros do you use for launcher + trap? I've tried a few but can't get any to work properly and it aggravates me.
You mean like pushing a button once to have launcher + explosive trap? Wasn't possible last time I checked, Blizz didn't do such a good job of implementing it; it's pretty clunky. All my traps are bound to my mouse (and launcher is middle button) so I end up hitting two buttons for each trap. Kind of annoying when I have to trap like 6 times in a row (Cho'gall, blargh).
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was trying to get away from. Trapping is probably the weakest part of my game as a hunter, and I'm just horribly slow at getting out multiple traps compared to where I should be. I've seen macros that supposedly do it in a single click (or quickly spamming the same button twice, which is 95% as good) but none have worked consistently for me, and most haven't worked at all.
Shammy, as an fyi, we've got a long-standing dislike of names with non-standard symbols (stemming from 25-man days when the DKP tool we used didn't recognize those names, so the officer in charge of loot would have to manually do the dkp for that person, which was a hassel). Regarding your potential fit, I'd say that we're definitely still figuring that out. I remember that when I swapped from being a clicker to a... non-clicker, I guess, it took a while for me to get the muscle memory down. A few days, bare minimum, and probably a week or two. Until it gets smooth, it feels awkward as hell and unnatural, and you'll REALLY feel tempted to cheat all the time. But stick with it. After a day or two it starts feeling a lot more natural, and once you're fully able to do your rotation (I know, its more of a priority system, but whatever) you'll be amazed at how much crisper and fluid it feels. When Sobie talks about how you could be losing 0.1 seconds or more on each click, you'll start feeling that in your gut. No, you'll never get your timing perfect, but if you save 0.1 seconds on each click (which doesn't seem like much), its probably another 1.5-2k dps all by itself.

You should be able to macro in a double-tap (with a delay between the taps, you can't just spam the button), the single tap isn't going to work since trap launcher triggers a GCD. But even if you bind one button that's a double-tap, you'll have to bind the non-launcher trap too (for cases like Magmaw parasite kiting, where you want to just drop the trap at your feet).
So you either have 5 binds:
- Trap Launcher
- Explosive
- Ice
- Freezing
- Snake
or 8:
- Trap Launcher + Explosive
- Trap Launcher + Ice
- Trap Launcher + Freezing
- Trap Launcher + Snake
- Explosive
- Ice
- Freezing
- Snake
Actual number of button presses is the same for both.

Cool deal and ill get it down already feels a little more responsive not clicking
Aside from higher DPS, the biggest difference will probably be in your ability to interrupt. As a clicker, it's pretty damn hard to catch a 1.5 sec (or god forbid 1.0 sec) cast even if you have good reflexes. Since shaman are awesome at interrupting (ele is probably slightly better than enhance because they spec for the CD reduction) you should also get in the habit of interrupting everything you see. Like if you're doing dailies or something, just lock up random mobs so you get used to it.

How's the keybinding going? See if you can get a log of an instance so we can see how things are going (ideally a raid) and we'll wrap this up.
Sorry this is dragging on so much. We aren't being difficult or giving you a hard time, its just that since a faction transfer would be involved, we're kinda pushing for a higher level of confidence than we'd normally shoot for. Would suck if things didn't work out after a transfer.

Yeah, it's pretty much what Sobe said atm. I've got a hunter alt so I tried whipping up my own macro... this is what I'm using atm.
#showtooltip
/castsequence [nomod] reset=3 Trap Launcher,!Ice Trap
/castsequence [mod:alt] reset=3 Trap Launcher,!Explosive Trap
/castsequence [mod:shift] reset=3 Trap Launcher,!Snake Trap
/castsequence [mod:ctrl] reset=3 Trap Launcher,!Immolation Trap
Press once for the trap launcher, press a second time w/ the proper button for a specified trap (alt + button etc)... (it may be press proper button twice to get the specified trap, I forget).
Either way its what I came up with

Golden Rules of WoW:
1. Avoid the shiny stuff - nuff said.
2. Dead dps = 0 dps.
3. DBM. Get it.
4. STFU on vent.

My apologies for dragging this out so long, but we've had some internal shifts, and we simply don't have a spot for another melee dps right now. I apologize, as your attitude has been terrific and I suspect the logs you're working on will show a marked improvement and solid play. The minute something happens to one of our melee, I'll be kicking myself over this, but I can't in good conscience go with the likely amount of time melee would spend sitting by adding another one. My apologies.
