Heh, yeah. I wouldnt say Id quit wow for this, but itll almost certainly take over as my main non wow game. I was plaing d2 regularly up to about 6 months ago (with like a 5 year break) and in fact had my best core of characters ever but there were some weird authorization issues when i got a new hd for my computer. Cata was like 2 weeks away anyway, so i just dropped it. Also, i only played hc and the bowazon died. Decided to leave the rest forever frozen in amber rather than watch 'em eventually die. Loved that game.

That having been said, i ended up playing sc2 a lot less than i expected so you never know.

Been waiting about 11 years now for the 3d one.. all because blizzard north left the company its been on the back burner ever since. Reason for not being out yet... I blame Activision the fine owner of blizzard and its tactics of distribution and spacing out sale between there products. Long story shot, It will probably be another year before we get a release date. Not in till the decline of sales in WoW and SC2, nothing major will motivate them to push for a release unless the money starts to run out.

But, here's the kicker. On the IGN websites a release date for Diablo 3 has been announced. And wrath nailed it on a Dec 31 release date. ( due to testing might get pushed ) So Blizzard is gonna have some thick competition in the 4th quarter of the year and if they were smart would hold off till a 1st quarter release in 2012. Plus, they also announced a Dec. release date for the 2d installment of StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.

We really shouldn't have to say this again, but never trust a release date posted somewhere other than on Blizzard's site. Everyone else lies.

Long story short, to call it a lie isn't quiet fair, its a prediction.

Nice logic, but it is still a lie, not a prediction.

Dec. 31st is a Saturday.

Most of these shops have to put a release date on their internal systems so they make something up. When there's a release date, Blizzard will announce it to everyone. Until then, it's a guess, unless it's not even a credible guess like the IGN date, in which case it is a lie.

The supposed leaked product timeline lines up with a fourth quarter release for D3. Blizz announced today WoW coming to Brazil which matches up with this timeline. Of course this doesn't prove that the timeline is accurate, but personally I wouldn't be surprised if D3 saw a release at the end of this year. Yay speculation!

Yeah, this is an interesting chart which has matched up very well with reality so far. I'm a little boggled that they might be shooting for the next WoW expansion as soon as Q2 of next year. I mean, t12 has been out a month and even if its a short one, there's GOT to be an Abyssal Maw raid involving Azshara and the Old God who corrupted her, and they've hinted at something in CoT (which seems likely to not happen, as I suspect it was supposed to be short and released in conjunction with Firelands), all coming out before whatever raid has Deathwing. They'll almost certainly release Deathwing a good 6 months before they release the next expansion, which would mean December, giving us 5 months to finish Firelands AND the next raid tier. Firelands is short, but it isn't that short, and the devs were right about it not being ToC.

Would it be conceivable that maybe the abyssal maw or whatever is the last real raiding tier and deathwing ends up being released as a Halion type raid where he is the only one you have to face?

Yeah, could be, but that would make this by far the stingiest expansion in terms of raiding. It would essentially be like the raiding from Wrath, except with no Ulduar. Would be kind of skimpy, though I guess that would be kind of inevitable if it runs 6 months shorter.
