Discuss your talents and tell us how long you have been this particular spec:
I have a cookie cutter Assassination spec, I have been running this spec for quite a while and know it well.

Ventrilo and do you have a mic:
Yes/yes

Do you have an authenticator?
Yes, I do have an authenticator.

Typical Weekly Playtime:
I play quite a bit during the day and early evening, usually getting offline around 12-1 AM.

Time Zone:
Eastern

Previous Guilds:
I am currently in Warlocks of the Sunspire

Previous Raiding Experience:
This is a new character but I have done most of the Wrath dungeons on another character. For cataclysm I have not been in a group so far that could get past the first boss in either BOT or BWL.

Why are you applying to us:
I am looking to experience the cata content with people who know what they are doing and have a good attitude during the raids.

Link us your Armory:
Carboxyl

World of Logs Report:
Log from TotFW *updated

Do you know anyone in guild? If so please list your pals.
No, I don't know anyone in the guild.

Tell us a bit about yourself:
26 year old laid back guy. Have been playing off and on since release, avid camper and hiker. Currently going to school for Biotech Manufacturing.

Overall gear looks good, gems are right. Could use a few more heroics for sure, but an easy fix. One issue is that your reforging is mostly all wrong. With the Cataclysm changes to energy spent on dodged attacks, expertise is one of the worst stats for a rogue. Once you get to spell hit rating, the worst stat on your gear, generally crit or expertise, should be reforged to mastery.

Stat priority is something like:

Agility > Yellow Hit > Spell Hit > Mastery > Haste > Expertise > Crit > White Hit

Was bored so I ran your gear through a reforging tool.

Helm - Crit -> Mst
Neck - None
Shoulder - Crit -> Mst
Chest - Crit -> Mst
Legs - Exp -> Hit
Wrist - Hit -> Mst
Hands - None
Finger1 - None
Finger2 - None
Trinket1 - Hit -> Mst
Trinket2 - None
Ranged - Exp -> Mst
Back - None
MH - Crit -> Mst
OH - Crit -> Mst

Puts you at 1331 hit, and gets the most out of your other stats. Oh yeah, if you have any questions I'm generally on my warrior, Trashmob.

While its too bad its of training dummy work, thumbs up for including a proper log.

The good:

  • You included a log
  • Gems/Enchants/Professions are in good shape (Need the exalted Therazane shoulder enchant)
  • DPS seems competent, and your damage by spell breakdowns are fairly spot on with simulations
  • For a toon that's been 85 for a month and a half, you seem to be fairly active in gearing it, getting enchants, rep, etc.

The bad:

  • A 101 second log isn't really long enough to smooth out RNG, but fortunately the rogue rotation doesn't change much. I would've liked to see a longer one to check out your CD management (say 5-7 minutes, the typical length of a boss fight). You did Envenom after Cold Blood which is good.
  • Seems like you could tighten up your rotation - SnD uptime was 84.9%, Rupture was 91.2%, Deadly Poison was 84.4%. I know it takes a few globals to get everything up, that's why a longer log would have been more in your favor. Your uptime in a +5 minute fight might turn out to be better, but I have no way of knowing.
  • Gear is probably on the lower limit of what we'd be willing to accept (though the effort in your character is evident). We'd probably have to invest some time into gearing you before you can really contribute on the progression bosses.

What kind of raid attendance can we expect from you?

He's only about 3 days of dailies from being Exalted with Therazane, which is fine as it looks like he's working on Dragonmaw now for the gloves. Gives the impression of having thought this stuff through.

Also the back enchant should be changed; 22 agi from wotlk is best for you in your current gear, and should always beat 50 crit for assassination. 65 crit can pass 22 agi at certain gear levels, but I'm not a big fan (not to mention it costs 5 maelstrom crystals).

Stab mentioned the stat priorities, here's what each stat is worth for your current gear (normalized for agi):

  • Agi = 1.000
  • AP = 0.3985
  • Mastery = 0.4569
  • Haste = 0.3935
  • Crit = 0.3003
  • Hit = 0.2246 (since you're already spell hit capped)
  • Expertise = 0 (over cap)

See attached for the simulation behind the numbers; also what I used to check what your spell breakdown should be.

Carboxyl, btw, thanks for your app. Also, I think we've managed to give you a decent picture of how our brains work.

Throw in something by Deceax on how to hack/exploit PS games, Gunther deriding the generally poor quality of our American educations/beer, and Dalac demanding to know why none of us learned to play properly and you'd have seen just about everything.

PS - Thick skin and a sense of humor are required. Also, philosophically, we push for progression and will spend a whole night wiping on a hard boss, but we also like to try get downed bosses on farm as quickly as possible. The steady stream of loot is nice for beefing us up against the harder bosses, but we want to do them fast so we waste as little time on them as possible.

If you want to try uploading a more representative log I'd say run BH and post it or sit some more on the dummy for about 5-6 minutes.

From what Wrath has said though... I'd assume the question now is:

Deal or no deal!

You assume wrong. I still need to know what kind of attendance to expect, and I have to run something with him.

Nerd Contribution: Recently been playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I'm a Nintendo fanboy so I went with an N64 over and Playstation so now I'm going back and playing some psx and ps2 classic on my ps3. After killing bloody zombies I knew that the squishy fountain sound when they die had to be my notification sound on my phone. Had to get an emulator and load up the game then fraps me killing a zombie; extract the wav file from the video then edit the wav to get only the sound effect part. Now whenever someone sends me a text message I have an awesome blood explosion sound. Nerd win.

As for the app goes it's pretty bare bones but he seems to mostly have his shit together from what stab and sobie have said. Would like to see him in a dungeon and see how he replies to the criticism on gear/stat choices. Our melee dps is somewhat lite at the moment and we could use an interrupter that's not horrible like stab.

*Edit* Attached mp3 of zombie death.

Our? You log on like once every two weeks. Don't know why I haven't banned you from the forums yet; probably pity in case any nuclear waste from Japan comes floating over your homeland. (Unholy's probably going to be baked out of his mind to combat the "radiation sickness" from the cloud hitting Cali)

Oh, yeah. I'm not saying that he's getting in. He might, he might not. As others have noted, the app is a little bare-bones, but it and the character behind it generally present themselves well though I know crap about rogues. Running a 5-man or BH pug or whatever with him would add some much needed perspective.

Really, I was just noting that this thread probably actually says a lot more about us as a guild than him as an applicant, which I thought was sort of funny. Since we were heading down that road anyway, I figured I'd fill in some local color.

Wow! Sorry for the lack of replies, I thought I had it set to send me an email if someone replied to my thread. Wrathblood told me to get in here and check out all the replies. I can definitely do any reforging necessary and I would definitely like to run a few heroics with you guys.

As to my attendance I am pretty sure I can make the raids but I am changing jobs coming up soon so my schedule is kind of up in the air for a while.

P.S. The massive randomness happening here is absolutely hilarious.

I also have a dk that I can use too Helicase

Wrath has a pug 10-man he runs on Mondays at 8 pm; could be a good chance for us to see you in a raiding environment.

If you can't make it tomorrow I might be able to take you along for a couple of bosses Tuesday night.

Wrath said you did fine on Monday, send one of us a tell for a guild invite. Also gave you member chat access, most of our discussion goes on in there, including raid relevant stuff and just dicking around.
