From our conversation I didn't get the impression that you had a strong grasp of hunter mechanics, and I'm a little disheartened at some of your gear choices even after our chat. Hit gem while you're severely over cap, AP gem, lack of 2-piece T9.

I don't see you pulling the numbers that we expect out of our hunters, a WoL might convince me otherwise.

Survival uses the same gems as MM in T10 - ArP. While SV doesn't get nearly as much benefit out of ArP as MM, it surpasses Agi in ICC. That AP/Stam gem in your boots is terrible for both MM/SV, and if it was part of your BM set, you should have used a 32 AP enchant, not 16 agi. FYI, ArP also surpasses AP for BM in T10. Hunters of all specs end up using ArP gems, not just MM.

Try to imagine if someone randomly asks you "hey what rotation should I use?" Would you assume that person is an expert at their class? Even if you were merely unfamiliar with the spec, what makes me a trustworthy source of information? For all you know I'm just a random person that happens to put out decent numbers (which you only heard secondhand).

To me someone who is knowledgeable about a class makes the effort to look for more verifiable and peer-reviewed sources of information. A 5-min browsing of the MM hunter thread on EJ would have told you all the basics that I told you.

One of the first things you said to me that your DPS was poor and you wanted to improve. While the desire to improve is noteworthy, if you knew your class very well your DPS wouldn't have sucked.

Let's give you the benefit of the doubt and overlook the helm (if you wear T9 usually but happened to switch during an app) and the boots (not sure what the excuse is for those, but again I'll let it go). You're about 280 points over hitcap. Why are you specced into 3/3 Focused Aim? (3% hit). You left out a point out of GftT, costing you ~100-200 DPS from your pet. You haven't maxed out ISS (~30 DPS for your gear). Even IHM would be a DPS increase, especially if you're raiding with multiple hunters.

And what would you have me judge you by? I read every app that we get, and try to go over the details as much as possible. If all you're giving me is Armory to work with, then I really have nothing else to look at. We explicitly ask for some kind of combat log in our Application template, but you didn't provide one.

And not to belabor the point, but you said you've gotten up to Sindragosa. Armory shows you with 2 Putricide kills (10-man) 1 Blood Prince kill (10-man), 0 BQL kills, 0 Dreamwalker kills. How did you see Sindragosa if you've never killed Dreamwalker? If you did it on another toon, please include that in your app.

I'm not an officer, the final say comes from one of them. Being defensive while still not providing any evidence of your ability does not help your cause. Saying "I know how to play" doesn't mean anything, how many people would app and say "I don't know how to play, take me"?

By all means link your other toon. But keep in mind that it'll be "judged" along the same lines - if you're progressing further on that toon than your hunter, it may as well be your main and I would use it to get a broader sense of how well you know your stuff.

At the time Dave asked me if we had any openings I mentioned we were losing a hunter (when Passa said he was leaving). Dave has several 80's he could transfer.

Dave. If you have other characters you would like to be considered to show your experience and knowledge of the game pls post them, as Sobey suggested. An application may be scrutinized carefully since, as a raider in end game content there are expectations, and you've now met our version of the INQUISITION in Sobey. He's extremely thorough, and as you can tell, he makes a lot of presumptions you need to prove or disprove for him to let go of the issue. He's like the pitbull who only lets go of your leg when you stop squirming or you are dead.

If your guild was using World of Logs it might be a good idea to post a link of some of the fights you were in, doesn't matter what character. Until an officer responds just go with the flow and try not to show fear...the fangs just sink in further when the smell of fear is thick in the nostrils.

Sorry we don't have room for another hunter in our raiding team. I believe the only things we are looking for now are an enhance shaman and a moonkin. You can join the guild as a friend rank in hopes for an opening if you'd like.

My DK there is Syrenity.

Your DPS on Saurfang was about 3k lower than it should be. The simulator has you pulling 6k on a target dummy self buffed, and 7.3k with the buffs you had in that particular raid (ret/bear). Add in the 10% ICC buff (your log was from the week before 15% kicked in), and you should be pulling +8k for your gear on a tank-and-spank, not 5k.

Here are things you could do to get it closer to 8k:

• Improve Blood Plague uptime - 81.6% is really low, should be +95%.
• Obliterate more - Obliterate should be the second highest source of damage, you don't Obliterate nearly enough.
• You missed 6 out of 23 Killing Machine Procs for Frost Strike by either letting it run off or casting Icy Touch or Howling Blast. Seemed to be worst towards the end of the fight, don't lose focus because he frenzies or is about to die. Play until the whistle blows!
• Casting Howling Blast too much, should cast when freezing fog procs (only procced twice for you).

As far as I'm concerned a Frost DK is as good as an enhancement shaman (melee haste, slightly less buffs, better DPS), but again, I don't see you pulling the numbers you should be (not sugarcoating version: your DPS sucks. Admit it and take the steps to improve). You can try to implement the changes I listed above and see if you do better, but I would not recommend transferring here to be a friend in the guild if you want to raid.
