I have found that the new /cast [modifier] addition to be the bee's knees when it comes to playing my characters. An example macro:

--------
#showtooltip Frostbolt
/cast [nomodifier] Frostbolt
/cast [modifier:alt] Counterspell
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Fire Blast
----------

This is my 1 key macro, so 11111 spams frostbolt, as usual (omg frost mage). Since frostbolt doesn't self cast (like, say, a healing spell?), alt-1 for counterspell seemed cool. ctrl-1 for fire blast for extra pewpewage seemed pretty cool.

I have a similar version for the rogue and druid, where hemo/mangle is 1, and alt-1 is feint/cower. This is super cool for the rogue, so that 3 is rupture, alt-3 is slice and dice, and ctrl-3 is eviserate. (4 is kidney shot)

Slipping together all those narsty keys. Riposte was a part of 1 when I had it too.

This is just modifying something I was saying to Bop last night (I haven't tested this, it may not work correctly) -

/macro and make a Bop specific macro for:

#showtooltip Revenge
/castsequence reset=5 Shield Block, Revenge, Revenge, Revenge

Then slide that on into your 1 key slot. What that'll do (if I understand correctly) is every 5 seconds, Shield Block, and if you've shield blocked within the last 5 seconds, try to revenge. Since you can only cast one spell every 1.5 seconds, three revenges should be large enough to fill the 5 second window.

Shield slam normally, / spell reflect while pressing the key with alt down:

#showtooltip Shield Slam
/cast [nomodifier] Shield Slam
/cast [modifier:alt] Spell reflect

so mentally it's like pressing the key normally for offensively using your shield, and alt-casting to use your shield on yourself.

When you choose the name and icon of the macro, if you choose the ? (should be the first one in the entire list) it will show the tooltip of the current spell it is on.

Some healer macros:
Inner Focus and then prayer of healing:
/castsequence reset=15 Inner Focus, Prayer of Healing(Rank 6)

Shackle focused target (can be replaced for polymorph)
/cast [target=focus] Shackle Undead(Rank 3)

Mouseover unit frame to dispel/abolish disease (fill in your decursing spell).  These are separate macros, have to make two!
/cast [target=mouseover] Abolish Disease
/cast [target=mouseover] Dispel Magic

I thought that the ? icon only showed a partial tooltip, and #showtooltip would show the detailed tooltip.

Yes, it is a partial tooltip.  Myself personally, I don't read what they do :P

I made this macro for all the ranks of GH that I use.  Basically it pops my Lower City Prayerbook whenever it is ready so I am using it all the time.  Great for those of us who are terrible about use trinkets. :)

#showtooltip Spellname
/use Itemname
/cast Spellname

for instance:

#showtooltip Greater Heal(Rank 1)
/use Lower City Prayerbook
/cast Greater Heal(Rank 1)

This will work even if your trinket is cooling down.  Only thing you will see that may be annoying is "this item is not yet ready".  It doesn't affect your casting.

I use a very similar macro to tie my +dmg and healing trinkets to Shadow Word: Pain so I never forget to use them :)
