Your gear seems pretty good, enchants are good, gemming could be improved a little by putting an Inscribed Ametrine in your helmet and by putting the Nightmare Tear in your blue chest socket. And I hope you're eating +hit food.

If you're going to have Blacksmithing and Jewelcrafting, you should try to max them out. No reason to have them otherwise, and you're missing out on two sockets from BS.

Oh, Friend rank. Never mind all this then!

If you want a friend rank, get someone in the guild to vouch for you and we'll tag you.
That which doesn't kill you gets to try again later.

Efebo was one of the better players I encountered while I was in Hells Legion. Reliable and competent raider and generally a cool guy. One question, is your goal to join the guild and do 25 man's with us or do you just want to be a friend rank and socialize and do 10 mans?

It's in your best interest to make up your mind. If you want to raid, there's no point in making yourself unhappy just to see what happens. We don't have anything in place where you "graduate" from friend to raider. You're either a raider or you're not. If you get accepted as a friend, you're probably not raiding. Just telling you this because I've seen a lot of people stay in the guild for a few weeks and leave because they get the itch to raid, which is perfectly understandable.

Yes, I would definitely app as a raider since I'm guessing that's why you want to join us. If you go on any raids this week use the tool at this site to upload your combat logs so people can verify your competence/ability.

I've run lots of stuff with Efebo over probably the last 8ish months. Good guy, productive player, reliable. Also, when I first met him he was a typical dk. Didn't know his mechanics or his rotation very well, poor dps, etc. but he had a good attitude and took criticism well. Every time I run stuff with him, he's be a little better than the last time, and had figured out something new. That's one of the most complimentary things I can say about someone in this game.

As for raiding... yeah, being a friend is aggravating if you want to raid, because with our solid turnout lately, you never get to go on the 25s. On the other hand, Thor runs 10-man ICCs pretty much every week on two characters, mostly in guild, and he's still a friend.

It looks like WWS isn't working anymore or something because they're not showing content after Naxx on the front page or the searches. You're probably going to be better off going with http://www.worldoflogs.com

That will require you to run a little client while you raid. If you need help getting it running while you raid, just ask. :)

Nothing.

Just open the client thought the link at the top of their page. It's going to create a window with 3 buttons when it's running. Go into WoW and type "/combatlog" in the text box, you'll see a note that the combat is being logged. Then click on the WoL client button on the far right that says "start a live report session".

It just occurred to me that you may need to set up an account on WoL for this, but I'm not positive.

He's well geared. Depending on logs he should be a good addition. A view of his UI should help.

A suggestion on the side to maximize your dps.

Str/Haste is outdoing Str/Crit on my personal tests with Shadow's Edge. I know for a fact a proc weapon sims higher with haste then crit. Bryntoll and Shadowmourne. Haste > Crit

Ballack you are crazy person, recommending haste!

Looks like at the 251/258 level haste and crit are more or less even, but that as you improve your gear, crit pulls ahead of haste (they are still close, and crit is less than 10% ahead of haste from the weights I see for 264 and up gear, but still, crit is better than haste).

In addition, as his gear improves, the procs from Byrntroll will become less and less, relative to the other damage he deals. Meaning any haste you add for this becomes less and less valuable.

Furthermore, given the state of our melee DPS, a new raider will almost certainly get the next Cryptmaker that drops, making any procs from the weapon irrelevant, since he'd be using Cryptmaker.

Finally, there's also the possibility of Shadow's Edge (though to be honest, I don't see how all the people who have Shadow's Edge will get their Shadowmournes before the expansion).

So in conclusion, I wouldn't regem haste over crit for all those reasons.

The hardest part about applying for a raiding slot is basically whether or not we have room, unfortunately, and even then you never know what people will think. If it looks like we don't have room right now, you can always apply as a friend (I'll vouch) which, unless someone has an issue with you for some reason, is a very high probability of going well. While there isn't a designated path to progress from Friend to Raider, being in the guild you have a much easier time seeing where we're deep and who is coming and going. If it looks like the raiding group has room for another melee/plate dps then a friend who is keeping their eyes open will generally see it quick and could then apply for the spot. Or, if a spot doesn't open up for a long time, and you find a spot elsewhere, just be upfront about the situation and what you are looking for and there won't be hard feelings.

Charles,

Are you suggesting that I'm not likely to upgrade my Shadow's Edge to a Shadowmourne? What!?!? I'm crushed! There can't be more than 6-8 melee dps ahead of me in line. Assuming we start clearing 25-man hardmodes next week, we might get through everyone in under 6 months. Of course, there potential is there for another new Shadow's Edge every single week, so I might lose ground faster than we can get shards even at that rate of clearing.

Check EJ and read all the theory crafting that has been done. Haste also affects your BCB and Necrosis procs. I tested out haste versus crit on target dummies just to see how it did against each other.

Haste came in about 100dps higher in the same gear just swapping the gems. Only an easy rotation but over a 5 minute period.

PS > IT > BS > SS > BS > DC > SS > BS > SS > BS > RP dump (repeat) No extras at all just Runes and RP.
