Well, when it comes down to really iconic sources for names, there really aren't all that many. Tolkein, obviously, but the greek and roman gods are a little too much in the mainstream, so you've got like the Norse/Babylonia/Celtic gods who are kinda the 2nd tier. Lovecraft fits in really nicely, considering we're dealing with, among other things, giant tentacled gods.
