So a note to people who actually watch their DKP, it has been a month since ICC came out and we hand reset the DKP back down by a month.
That being said as of Sunday the DKP decay started again, and you will notice your DKP changing daily again as it did well, a month ago

Speaking of dkp, how the hell has Rystorm only gotten 2 upgrades since Halloween? That hardly seems possible even with intensive 10-man heroic runs and crafting. I've got slots (legs and possibly trinkets) where I've replaced my gear twice in that time.

The man likes to hoard his DKP.
That and he's probably having Rohanna delete stuff in exchange for cyborz.
Speaking of DKP oddities, not sure how Rohanna has 100% attendance. I can think of at least one instance off the top of my head where she wasn't present. Doesn't impact me in any way, but I call shenanigans.

I was not in the instance the night you guys spent the whole night on deathwhisperer, I missed the 8pm raid call, and the 9pm raid call by 3 minutes so I got credit for the night. I was basically sat that night (actually had emergency and had to go to the hospital and see my grandma but I was only alittle late)
However glad you actually missed me.

It seems like my Dkp is a hot topic.
there are a few things id like to point out.
I NEVER miss a raid. my attendance for the last 6+ months has been 100%, every little bit adds up.
I don't just mindlessly bid on items that i don't need. Mage itemization for arcane is pretty striaght forward. SPell power -> Haste , enough said. So when some crap cloth drops that has spell power/crit on it i don't waste my dkp.( think of it as money, why would i go into a store and buy something I know isn't that great and I will be replacing asap.)
Use RARW and EJ, you can see what items are BiS for you, I spend freetime at work looking over loot tables to know what bosses drop what on what modes to im informed about my gear.
We charged Dkp for a few 10 man heroic runs, outside of those few runs we don't charge dkp for 10 mans. The only ones we charged were the 10 man TOC heroics where we did 2 set groups and awarded and charged dkp. Funny thing my Staff i got on the last night we ran charge/award dkp. So i spent 140dkp on my staff where the next week it would have been free.
Thank you for the concern

Rystorm will have more DKP because he doesn't have the same kinda thing as most of us, where I have had to upgrade items a couple times based off guild progression (IE going from int/crit to haste/crit) he also has other people who can take items from him... Serror is about the only person who wants my mp5 mail items... and he usually passes them to me ...
So you will see my DKP go down much faster than Rystorms, even though we attend the same amount of raids.

Well there's a gray area. An item can be an upgrade but not be BiS. We usually tell people to take an item if it's an upgrade, BiS or not, but it's rarely enforced since it's a hassle for the officers and we expect people to know their shit + be somewhat honest. If you don't take an upgrade because you want to wait for another item to drop, technically speaking that's hoarding DKP - everyone's guilty of doing this at some point, so minor cases are not a big deal. More of an issue if a new app or a rerolled alt is significantly behind in gear but refuses to take an item that's an obvious upgrade.
Doesn't really bother me since I don't compete with you for gear, but for someone who has high attendance but has been taking the non-BiS upgrades I can see it being annoying. I wouldn't even mind egregious DKP hoarding if you were smoking all the caster classes as a mage who outgears them (as you should).
If we were to assign items based on skill and contribution to killing the boss, Civic (100% attendance past 90 days) would deserve it the most. That's probably where some of the friction is coming from (not implying that Civic is qq'ing - I have no idea - but just tossing out an example).
Another gray area - Leggings of Northern Lights off Tranny KT: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49988. It's BiS for me when I have the rest of my 264 BiS. Right now? 120 DPS loss because I lose 2-piece T9. The 2 pieces of T9 I have (Helm/Legs) are also perfectly itemized for MM (Crit/Arp) so the difference between 245 and 264 items are negated further. Basically I can't use the legs until I get 4-piece T10 (~2 months to get enough badges and marks?), so if they dropped this week I'd probably pass. Even that could be considered hoarding DKP, though the crux of my argument would be that I can't use the item now without a DPS loss.

Malediction used to use a Suicide Kings model, and there was occasionally complaining about people "camping" the top of the listing, waiting for a specific item to drop. I never understood that because for a person to sit at the top for a while, obviously they aren't taking anything, so why would people complain about a person effectively taking themselves out of the bidding process for most gear?
That having been said, different people see it different ways. Some dream about getting that rare-drop, BiS trinket or whatever and get upset that since they're 5thh (or whatever) in dkp for casters, it has to drop 5 times for them to get it.
On the other hand, as you might guess, I'm more in the "vacuum up everything" school, taking anything that's either an upgrade now OR I can see a fairly high probability scenario in which it would be an upgrade. Since I'm usually pretty low on the dkp meter (or low on the SK ladder) its pretty much never anything anyone else would want anyway or it wouldn't go to me so the risk of me taking something another person would want is tiny (and if something was useful for me down the road, but an upgrade for someone else right now, I'd pass it to them without a second thought if a miracle occurred and I beat them in dkp).
Mapping out BiS lists is, IMO, often where the friction comes up. For example, the Fleshrending Gauntlets dropped last week off... Rotface, maybe. The heroic version of those is on pretty much all the BiS lists for Ret paladins (its the off-set piece that goes with the 4-piece tier) and the non-heroic version is also excellent, so my eyes just about bugged out when none of the plate dps wanted it. On the other hand, frost emblems are still pretty dear, so picking up the tier gloves is kind of a no-brainer at this point and the Gauntlets would just be a waste of dkp at this point. 2-3 months down the line when everyone has a lot more emblems, I guess those gloves will arguably be a lot more attractive.
