Our guild has never faulted people for leaving pugs to join in guild things, but our guild does wait for guildies pugging to finish...
IE "Anyone wanna go to AQ40" "OO I do, but I am pugging be about 30 minutes" *Guildies wait 30ish minutes than go*

You are hit capped, which is good. I'm assuming that your guild didn't run with a Shadow Priest or a Boomkin for the 3% hit bonus? We almost always have one, so you would be better off if you could drop some of the +hit items.

I think that you are the first mage that I've ever met that gemmed for Stamina. It looks like our mages do +spellpower/+spirit for filling a blue slot if they need the set bonus.

Aside from that, it looks fine. I'd love to see a recount against a training dummy, or a WoL/WWS report to see how you perform with what you have.

As Len said, in a raiding environment (at least with us) you should assume you'll be getting a SPriest or Boomkin to provide a 3% hit debuff and only need 14% hit for a fire spec (though it's a good idea to be able to get that extra 3% back in gear / food for the rare circumstances that you don't have the debuff available.)

Your fire spec selection is a bit odd, though I see you've mentioned a respec. There's a reason it's generally referred to as a Fire / TTW spec... mainly because it generally includes Torment the Weak. Dumping that for spirit seems a bit odd, though having Flamethrowing is a must. Also, do you actually use Blast Wave or Dragon's Breath in raids? I hope not, and you should drop the points that you invested there, put them into TTW, and drop down to 1 point in Student of the Mind.

As for hit, the number you should be gearing for is 368 for a Fire / TTW spec, so you can drop about 100 hit rating. You can definitely drop a bunch of the hit gems in favor of sp gems, and should be looking to upgrade the trinkets as soon as possible. You're a bit haste-starved atm (I was too for a long time), so maybe running normal ToC for the Abyssal Rune would be a good start. As for the stam gem, you shouldn't really worry about Stam. The sp / spirit is a better choice, just make sure to carry potions and get lock cookies and have a finger near IB for the truly oh-shit moments.

All that said though: nice app, seems to probably know what's going on with mages.

<3k is a little bit low for fire / ttw with your stats, but not terribly so. Mages to tend to absorb raid buffs, so it's expected to be a bit low on a dummy on your own. What kind of rotation where you using on the dummy?

Though he didn't list it among previous guilds (this was early BC so its understandable), I remember Six from Asylum where he dpsed some raids (I seem to recall Mag and SSC, though it was a while ago). A nice, enthusiastic sort, though seemed to underachieve a bit for gear level so he didn't go regularly. Early in WotLK I pugged a VoA 25 with him (late Archavon or maybe right after Emalon came out) and he seemed more productive than I remembered. Also, some other former Asylum folks mentioned pugging with him a few weeks ago and that he seemed to have upped his game from the old days. If we have a need for mages he's worth taking a flier on.

im trying to check out your stuff at work so my attention is a little split but everything on your app looks decent overall. Ill sound like a broken record but attendance is huge at this point. We lack numbers on our raid nights as the week goes on for various reason, so being able to make Wed, thurs, sundays are a must, also if you are willing to take feed back and have thick skin that will be a big plus as we have our share of people who will knock you down but only so that when you get back up you will be stronger.

At this point we have 4 mages on our raiding roster, however im not sure what Meebs long term commitment is to riading as his attandance has been hit or miss. If he is willing to dedicate to raiding full time than with 4 mages so we might not have a spot for you, that being said if Meebs is not planning on giving raiding his full attention than that changes things. I will talk to the officers to see there thoughs on having 5 possible mages, and Meebs to get an accurate idea of his level of involvement in raiding. I should be able to talk to you tonight if youre around after i speak with some of them.




Just a quick look at your gear/gem/spec - things id change up are pretty simple. As Len said spell power stam isnt really the optimal dps blue gem, go with Spell power spirit to fill those slots to get socket bonuses. if youre looking to pull our a little more theorhetical dps than i'd drop blast wave and dragons breath as these really won't be used on bosses and pick up student of mind and TTW ( I know you said you were looking to do this). as far as pure DPS , Sitting and shooting at a Target dummy doesnt really do much for me as only few situations will you be able to sit for an entire fight with your thumb up your ass and hit 3 buttons (yes hard rotation is hard), Id rather see what you do for dps on fights like Hodir that require a lot of movement.
