being the number one suspected reason behind my recent laptops failure was over heating, I'm wondering if anybody around here has ever used a cooling pad for their laptop.

if so, which one, and how effective was it?

Superman used to have the same problem and he posted a pic of the setup he ended up rigging. He got a full-size room fan and mounted it to his desk so that it blew straight at his laptop. He never had overheating problems again though I suspect it created other issues.

Thing:

This is the one I have for my laptop keeps it cool enough, but can get hard on the legs, if you have a table though it wouldnt be so bad, and it fits any size.
I'm not dumb, I just choose not to be smart at the moment.

This is entertaining.

Long ago, in a gal--err, I mean...Back when I was but a little tike, i had a playstaion, that I played, and by played, I mean worked like a slave driver works a slave...

eventually over time it began to have overheating problems.

So I brought in a miniature industrialized shop fan, turned it upright and set it upon that.

I beleive because of this, I got many more years out of that playstation that normally expected.

*giggle*

My laptop actually never makes it into my lap, its always on a desk, namely mine.

It doesn't run at full power when I take it on the go, in order to have more batery life, i keep it on low power, which makes it nearly impossible to over heat it, as it runs at about 30% of its maximum operating potential..

That being said, It'd sit on my desk and I think, I'll buy something similar to this...

I was looking on new egg, and for 40 bucks I can get one that looks just like that. So I think I might.
