Don't want to seem like I'm padding mah post count, so here's a vid:

Having an Arcade Fire/Muse-like ascension, doesn't hurt that they're headlining the first night of Coachella.

Hrm I actually saw a black keys record at the store I went to last weekend; might have to pick it up. I'm trying to figure out what I want to get next but the problem is I have too many albums I want. I Think this is a good start.

Deltron 3030 - 3030
Pharcyde - Lab Cabin California
Binary Star - Masters of the Universe
Gang Starr - Moment of Truth
Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory
Tupac - 2Pacalypse Now
People Under the Stairs - O.S.T.

Victory is mine yeah surprisingly
I've been laying waiting for your next mistake
I put in work and watch my status escalate" - Gang Starr

Some of my favorites from growing up:

Roots - Things Fall Apart
Talib Kweli - Quality
Blackstar - Blackstar
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Roots and Talib Kweli are definitely solid. One of my problems is I listen to all my music on pandora and don't always pay attention to artists so like sometimes I don't even know who it is I like. The record store I went to on Saturday was mostly hipster or obscure shit. I'm not about to buy a fucking dubstep record and I feel like it's a little bit too much of a gamble to pick up "best guitar solos from the 1940's in sub-saharan africa". I might have to explore the city some more to find a place that has a good selection of hip hop vinyl without having a fear of being shot.

I'm sure everyone's heard this a zillion times, but massive overexposure aside it really is a good song. However, I bring it up to make a point. Artists licensing their stuff to commercials or whatever may seem like a sell-out, but like Moby once put it, its actually really handy for broadening your exposure to a demographic you'd otherwise never be able to reach. I was thinking about the music that I heard for the first time in a commercial or something similar that's actually a great piece of music regardless of where my initial exposure to it came from. Off the top of my head:

Wake Up - The Arcade Fire
Rhapsody in Blue - Gershwin
Time to say Goodbye - Andrea Boccelli
Hoe Down - Copland
Good Old Fashioned Nightmare - Matt and Kim
and, of course, We are Young - Fun.

Their wiki page says they're a metal band? Doesn't really jive with hipster.

depressing music with lyrics about faith and living in toronto = canadian hipster. I've been accosted by them downtown before, they take real offense to my using of the term in a negative context.

Weird, when I think of Canadian hipster I see some butch dyke with a cigarette listening to Tegan and Sara. Learn something new every day. Also weird, faith? The Brooklyn hipsters are strictly atheist/agnostic. Some of them are "spiritual" but that's usually just a fancy way of saying vegan.

No one is even looking at the director as he is gyrating up there on stage. What's the point then, I thought they were supposed to watch him for cadence?
